These chairs are actually authentic antiques that date back to the Renaissance. (Similar sets can be found at the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London).

The detail here is literally amazing. You are transported to a broken down hotel that hasn’t been touched since 1939. And it all starts at the entrance. It tells the story, and starts to envelope you in the theming from the moment you walk past that first bellhop.

On This Day in Disney History - February 13, 2004

Disneyland hosts a Friday the 13th ceremony to light up the marque of the new Tower of Terror.

The event, which includes a screaming contest, is hosted by comedian Gallagher.

(The new attraction will open in Disney's California Adventure May 5.)
